INSIDE NORTH KOREA

Surreal experience

Indigo Traveller

North Korea has always fascinated me. As my train travelled across the bridge separating China and North Korea, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement and trepidation. I was about to enter one of the most isolated and mysterious countries in the world.

I had been granted a visa to travel to North Korea as part of a guided tour. I was aware of the strict rules and regulations that I would have to follow, but I was determined to make the most of my experience. I was particularly interested in seeing the countryside, which is rarely seen by foreigners.

The train journey from China to North Korea was long and arduous. The train was old and uncomfortable, and the scenery was mostly flat and uninteresting. However, as we approached the border, the landscape began to change. The mountains became more rugged, and the villages became more prosperous.

When we finally arrived at the border, we were met by our North Korean guides. They were friendly and efficient, and they quickly escorted us through the customs process. We were then taken to our hotel in Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea.

Pyongyang is a modern city, with wide boulevards and impressive buildings. However, there is also a sense of oppression in the air. The streets are constantly patrolled by soldiers, and there is a heavy police presence. We were not allowed to leave our hotel without a guide, and we were constantly monitored.

Despite the restrictions, I found my visit to North Korea to be a fascinating experience. I was able to see a country that is very different from my own, and I learned a great deal about the North Korean people and their way of life.

I would recommend a visit to North Korea to anyone who is interested in learning more about this enigmatic country. However, it is important to be aware of the strict rules and regulations that are in place, and to be prepared for a surreal and unforgettable experience.

**Conclusion**

North Korea is a country that is both fascinating and terrifying. It is a place where the past and the present collide, and where the people live in a constant state of fear. I will never forget my experience in North Korea, and I will always be grateful for the opportunity to have seen this unique and enigmatic country.
