North Korea Travel Warnings

North Korea: Travel Advisory Updated

Obsolete COVID-19 Information Removed

The United States Department of State has reissued its travel advisory for North Korea, removing obsolete information about COVID-19 travel restrictions. The advisory now reflects the current situation, with no entry into North Korea permitted while border restrictions remain in place due to the pandemic.

Continuing Risks

Despite the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, the advisory continues to warn of ongoing risks for travelers to North Korea. The country remains closed to all but essential travel, and the regime has a history of arresting and detaining foreign nationals, often for extended periods of time. Additionally, the advisory cautions travelers about the prevalence of yellow dust during the spring months, which can cause respiratory issues.

The Department of State strongly advises against travel to North Korea for any purpose. Travelers are urged to reconsider their plans and seek alternative destinations.
